Vice President, Business Development

Mobile Discovery, an innovator in the world of mobile marketing, seeks an industry leader to establish the company as a partner with Fortune 1000 brands and advertising agencies.  In the role of Vice President of Business Development, you will build a world-class advertising solutions team to expand Mobile Discovery’s business.  You and your team will build strategic relationships with advertisers, from which commercial partnerships will emerge.  The ideal candidate brings extensive experience, expertise and relationships from the on-line media and advertising sectors, as well as a successful track record of crafting strategic partnerships.

In this highly-visible role, you will establish a presence in the advertising community, as well as with brand marketers. Candidate should have a deep understanding of the advertising industry along with extensive industry contacts.

This position reports directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify partners and develop partnership strategies to drive new business with advertisers and ad agencies
  • Develop partnership plans/approaches on target prospects. This may include sales calls, competitive analysis, coordination of presentations and proposals, in-office demonstrations, and follow-up activity coordinated within that plan/approach
  • Ability to understand the customer’s business and technical requirements; understand MD’s products, features and architecture
  • Work closely with software and network engineers to understand current and new product offerings
  • Ability to call on the highest levels of decision makers in an organization with confidence (e.g., VP IT, CFO, VP Marketing, CIO, etc.)
  • Create and maintain pipeline and revenue forecast
  • Communicate pipeline, forecast and new partner relationship and status internally
  • Gather market intelligence and share the information in a timely manner

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years business development or sales experience in advertising or new media industries
  • B.A. or B.S. degree
  • Advanced degree or MBA is a plus
  • Earty-stage company experience is desirable
  • Self starter able to work without constant supervision.
  • Experience in developing customer relationships
  • Ability to sell ideas and build consensus internally and externally
  • Strong negotiation abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High energy, creativity, resourcefulness and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong ability to convey technical information to non-technical customers
  • Ability to do product demonstrations
